AQUA

AQUA is a multisectoral cooperative that aims to develop projects in the areas of solidarity economy, fisheries, and culture.
We are currently developing projects in various areas, with funding from the MAR 2020 Programme, through the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, such as:
In Solidarity Economy, we are preparing the events Fish Soup Festival 2022 and Fish in the Azores 2022, whose proceeds will go towards social intervention in the community, with the main goal of promoting fish from the Azores. Also in this area, we will open a kiosk with space for selling food and drinks, with the aim of selling dishes and snacks made with fish – Snack Bar.
In terms of fishing, in addition to promoting species of low commercial value, we are building a warehouse to support innovation in fisheries (aquaculture and algae research).
One of our partners (CNRP) will launch an application with the aim of increasing the number of visitors to our fishing port through the Pesca Turismo APP. Also in the area of fisheries, a RESMAR APP – Selective Waste Collection at Sea will be launched, which will allow fishermen to record the quantities of waste removed from the sea, identify polluted areas, record marine life using photography, and create a (photographic) database in order to contribute to increasing scientific knowledge.
In the cultural sphere, preparations are underway for the launch of a book entitled AQUA, which, among other things, explains the way of life of our community and promotes its culture.
Also in the cultural sphere, the sale of local handicrafts will be promoted, both online and at a kiosk to be set up in the fishing port, next to the Naval Club.
